Unicorn Poop Cookies
These biscuits - also known as rainicorn poop (I suppose a cross between rainbow and unicorns) are no where near as dodge as the name suggests. :)
My sister's boyfriend Ethan turned 25 a my sister asked me to attempt these biscuits as a surprise. When she asked me to google the name I gave her that one arched eyebrow "what the heck are you talking about" look but she insisted I take a look.
These biscuits are what I guess people expect unicorns' poop to be like? Multi-coloured and full of glitter?? LOL... anyway, this was my attempt.
I found a nice set of instructions at....http://www.instructables.com/id/Unicorn-Poop/
I watched a video or two as well and those people also seemed to follow these steps.
The instructions have a recipe for the basic biscuit dough but it looks like it was scanned from a random recipe book and uses lard??? I found a better recipe (in my humble opinion) from my ever trusty and reliable BBC Food website.
The link to the biscuits is http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/icedbiscuits_3054
The instructions mention piping the biscuit dough but I am not sure how they managed that? Especially once the dough is chilled (Which is an absolute MUST).
So, this is what I did.
Step 1 - make up the biscuit dough
Step 2 - Divide into sections. Number depends of the desired number of colours (4 or 5)
Step 3 - Colour each bit a different colour.
Step 4 - Chill. I put mine in the freezer for 20 min or so. If you don't, the butter in the dough will start melting and make the dough soft and un-workable.
Step 5 - Break a bit off each colour and roll each colour into a long snake shape.
Step 6 - Bring all the coloured snakes together and gently roll them all together so they are combined but the colours are still separate. The final sausage/snake shape should b e quite thin.
Step 7 - Cut into small segememtns and then wind the shape around itself to resemble a "poo" shape.
Bake
Decorate with glitter and shapes.
